The Waikato District Council are actively supporting those country people struggling with water issues during this long hot and dry summer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“If you\u2019re running really low, we\u2019ve opened up some sites where you can go and collect drinking water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Tuakau Centennial Pool, Escotts Rd (from 10am-5pm)
– Huntly Aquatic Centre, Wight St (from 9am-3pm)
– Ngaruawahia Pool, Market St (from 3pm-5pm)
– Raglan Kopua Holiday Park, Marine Parade (from 11am-1pm)
– There is also drinking water available at the rest stop by Centennial Park on Bollard Rd in Tuakau (the drinking water tap is clearly marked).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bring your clean containers but you need to know what they\u2019ve been used for previously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the water is from our treated supply and is safe to drink<\/strong>, the water could get contaminated in your container.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The District Health Board strongly suggests you boil this water before use<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other advice we can offer includes:
\u2022 It\u2019s important you keep an eye on your water levels and don\u2019t leave it too late before calling for more water, as allowing the pump to run when the tank is empty may cause damage.
\u2022 If your water tank is empty, ensure you get it refilled using registered tankered water carriers. You can find a list of registered water carriers in the Waikato at\u00a0https:\/\/www.drinkingwater.esr.cri.nz\/\u2026\/carriersfornzregion.\u2026<\/a>
\u2022 Delivery of water by a tanker will disturb the sediment lying in the bottom of the tank. Therefore, allow the water to settle and clear before using it for drinking, hand washing or cooking.
