The big buzz on the motor-racing circuit is the shift of the next round of V8 Supercars from the Pukekohe Raceway to Hampton Downs Motorsport Park.
There is nothing nefarious in this shift in terms of skullduggery afoot behind the curtains or should I say behind the pits, rather the next round clashes with Anzac Day. So it was deemed necessary to get out of the way and find a more suitable venue whereby rules would not be broken. “The shift is due to the Auckland Unitary Plan, which prevents “any use of the track by motor vehicles, except for vehicles undertaking maintenance” on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Anzac Day as had been scheduled. Hampton Downs, being in Waikato, isn’t held to this legislation. ”
That is our good fortune here at the Downs, and I for one am jolly glad indeed, it means I can host an ‘Open Home’ at one my apartment’s that is for sale at the track, whilst showing interested parties exactly what it feels and looks like to own one of these indulgent boltholes on raceday. Whoop whoop !
